Looking forward to a long-anticipated event!

satellite 2021 preview

Satellite 2021 is just 6 short days away and our whole team is looking forward to the prospect of finally seeing our customers and our satellite colleagues and friends after such a long hiatus.

During the next week, you’ll be able to hear more about the New Ground movement. This is an initiative launched very recently in collaboration with Via Satellite that focuses on the innovation happening within the ground segment in the realization of the potential of New Space. View the New Ground cascade and Content Hub.

Our CEO, Kevin Steen will also be featured as a panelist on the Opening General Session: The Future of Global Satellite Connectivity on Wednesday on September 8 at 8:30am ET. It’s the first time a ground systems player has been featured and we are immensely proud to have this opportunity. We’re looking forward to a lively discussion.

Other sessions where you will be able to see ST Engineering iDirect include:

  • Sean Yarborough, VP Product Management, will feature on The Hidden Complexity of Ground Communications panel on Tuesday, September 7 at 9:30am ET.
  • Kevin Steen will also share his insights on the panel, High-Speed Satellite vs. Fiber – Making the Business Case for Customers on Wednesday, September 8 at 2:00pm ET.
  • Karl Fuchs, Sr. Vice President of Technology at iDirect Government, is set to give his perspective on the Designing Ground Systems for the Modern Militaries on the Move panel on Thursday, September 9 at 11:00am ET.

DIS Working GroupWe’re also part of another important initiative which has been announced today. The Digital Interface Standards (DIS) Working Group, of which we are a part of along with our fellow ground systems players: Communications & Power Industries (CPI), DataPath, Datum Systems, Gilat Satellite Networks, SES, and Wavestream. The Working Group has issued an open letter in which it is asking the wider satellite community to collaborate on the development of an open interoperability standard for the SATCOM industry. The standard will enable all manufacturers to build interoperable technologies that work in both open and closed network topologies, delivering the most advantages at the lowest cost. In digitizing the interface between modem and RF components using the new open standard, the industry will be able to leverage the latest virtualization, cloud computing and network function virtualization technologies as well as greatly improve the performance and scale of satellite hub, gateway and modem equipment. You can read the open letter here.

Come to speak to us about our new products!

During the first half of the year we have added exciting new capabilities and products to our portfolios.

Starting with our recently launched Mx-DMA MRC uniting SCPC efficiency and TDMA scalability into a single return technology, customers can expect high bandwidth efficiency savings, higher throughput, better network availability and substantial terminal cost savings. We are also excited to offer our customers an expanded MRC modem portfolio ranging from the new, cost-effective MDM2010 to the all-new MDM5010 multi-personality modem featuring the fastest speeds in either VSAT or in SCPC P2P up to 1.6Gbps.

Just last month we also launched the Intelligent Hub and line cards for Velocity for best-in-class density and performance as well as flexible deployment architectures for HTS/VHTS. And we are thrilled to present you with a live demo of our IoT Solutions, a robust and highly scalable offering on our Evolution, Dialog and Velocity platforms, facilitating IoT connectivity with a portfolio of compact, lightweight terminals that feature a tightly integrated satellite modem and flat-panel antenna design. During the show, we will partner with hiSky to demonstrate live driving demos of the IoT Dynamic Ku-band terminal. We can’t wait to show it to you, contact us for more information.

Supporting our female colleagues

SSPI-WiseDuring the show, we’re very proud to be sponsoring an SSPI-WISE networking event on Tuesday September 7 at the Succotash Restaurant at the National Harbor from 5 – 6.30pm. For those that may not be familiar, SSPI-WISE (Space and Satellite Professionals International – Women in Space Engagement) works to elevate the profile of women in the industry.

And finally, we have been nominated for an MSUA Satellite Innovation Award so make sure you stay tuned!

Contact us to book a meeting. We’re looking forward to the great discussions and networking opportunities we’ll have and to finally see each other at a live event after such a long time.

See you next week in Washington DC or, if you’re not attending, watch this space for live updates from the show!
