New hub and teleport location will support high-speed data application for critical enterprise applications
Herndon, VA, December 14, 2017 – VT iDirect, Inc. (iDirect), a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology and a company of Vision Technologies Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), today announced that Elara Comunicaciones (Elara), a leading Mexican satellite provider, has equipped a new teleport with an iDirect satellite hub to support high-speed data applications. With the expanded iDirect network, Elara can raise the customer experience for mission-critical applications, delivering enhanced network availability and real-time streaming.
The new hub, located in Querétaro City, will be fully interconnected and redundant to Elara’s existing iDirect hub in Mexico City, through a Layer 2 (L2) fiber link. Live-event streaming applications such as the Metropolitan Opera and the UEFA Champions League, as well as banking and Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) connectivity operations will benefit from the enhanced network support. In addition, Elara can now provide enterprise data services, including L2oS (Layer 2 over Satellite) LAN-to-LAN applications, as well as multipath multicast content.
“Elara is the first company in Mexico with two redundant teleports. Our goal is to increase network availability for critical enterprise applications and minimize weather interference,” said Jorge Luis Villarreal, CEO, Elara Comunicaciones. “Our customers are increasing their reliance of satellite communications to support their core operations, and iDirect enables us to deliver the superior standard of service.”
“Adding a new hub presents market growth opportunities for Elara, giving them more flexibility to operate over multiple satellites and harness greater capacity,” said Darren Ludington, Regional Vice President, Americas, VT iDirect. “We are pleased to help Elara strengthen their network within the Latin American region, which has led them to become a premier brand in their markets.”
