Once again, Dubai provided an inspiring backdrop for CABSAT 2024. A city that is not afraid of change and that constantly pushes the boundaries, it was a fitting location for the our team to host the EMEA Intuition unveil!
It was a busy week packed with events, demonstrations and networking. We were delighted to meet so many friends, old and new, and to bring our latest innovations to this thriving region. Here are just some of the highlights.
Partner Summit
We kicked off CABSAT this year with a Partner Summit that included over 120 delegates from all our core markets to receive an update on recent trends, drivers, product technologies and innovations both from our perspective and from those of our ecosystem partners.
During the Summit, we were able to brief attendees on the innovations we are offering across our verticals as well as an introduction to Intuition, our next generation ground system. It was important to bring our partners together so that we can deliver a 360-degree insight into the current satellite market and the changes that are shaping it to help our partners navigate their journey forward.
Intuition in Action
We were extremely proud to introduce Intuition to the MEASA market and speak to the new capabilities it will bring to our customers. It will enable them to respond to the changes that are happening in the satellite market; to scale rapidly, improve the speed and flexibility of service delivery, to integrate with terrestrial 5G networks; harness capacity from satellites across multiple orbits; and unlock new revenue opportunities.
Moreover, Intuition will learn and anticipate, understand patterns in the network, to drive decision making in this environment of increasing complexity. It is the necessary ground segment counterpart to make to make satellite networks intuitive, adaptive, and flexible.
During the show, we ran three proof of concept demonstrations that allowed our visitors to see Intuition in action. Our demos showed how we’re virtualizing the network processing functions of our hub technology to run in an Azure Cloud environment. We gave tours of Intuition’s advanced Network Management System, running in the AWS cloud. And we demonstrated how Intuition could orchestrate multi-orbit switching between GEO and Highly Elliptical Orbit (HEO) satellites.
Extended Partnership with Arabsat
On May 22, we were excited to announce that we are extending our successful multi-year partnership with Arabsat to bring connectivity to new markets in the Middle East, Africa and West/Central Asia.
Arabsat’s BADR-7 Ka-band satellite and 6A Ku-Band satellite already serve locations including Africa, Middle East and parts of Asia. However, Arabsat is now leveraging the ST Engineering iDirect technology to expand its coverage to manage connectivity services in countries that face challenges from poor infrastructure.
This expansion into new markets is part of Saudi Arabia’s wider initiative to continue to invest in space, diversify from the media and broadcast sector and bring satellite internet capabilities to users in remote and underserved areas through its VSAT broadband business. Arabsat will deploy the next generation iDirect hub infrastructure DCR/DBR to expand its existing Dialog and Evolution-based ground systems in four new gateways. This will enable the operator to address applications such as e-learning and disaster recovery. Read more about this important partnership here.
